What do we think then? I remember the face but not much about his play. Very excited about Jack Payne though, it'd be nice to have him back at Priestfield. I do doubt that we'd be able to afford the pricetag though.

A big strong striker that doesn't score much, perhaps he will be able to create goals for others ? Seems to have been a highly touted propect four or five years ago, maybe like Marquise Gillingham will help him reach his true potential.
To stand any chance of promotion we need to score 20 goals more than last year, and I think we need to start looking for a more prolific goal scorer than a guy who knocks in 7 or 8 a year.

If the Cody to Brighton potential move happens we will need a main striker again but it will be getting a bit late in the season to get one without paying a premium. Unless we do what Norwich did and get loaned a striker for the season - Craig Mackail Smith perhaps. The second striker needs to be capable of 10 goals minimum and step up a gear if Cody stayed and was injured. In the past it has worked with Kedwell and Bayo but he doesn't sound that sort. As he has a similar record to what Marquis had I no longer judge on figures as Gavin Tomlin also arrived with a woeful record so who knows. We could only try. I hope if he does come he takes to us better than Loft did.

I think Gillingham have signed Ben Williamson to be a squad player and essentially be our fourth choice striker with Cody McDonald, Luke Norris and a centre forward to be our first three attacking options, and the signing of Ben Williamson say's more about Greg Cundle, Aaron Millbank and Jack Sellans and all three must clearly not be good enough to be our fourth choice striker at this present moment in time, and those three may well be sent out on loan to further there development.

Ben Williamson could be someone we bring on for 15-20 minutes towards the end of the game where defenders are tiring and Williamson's pace can stretch team's and give the opposition defender's even more problems to deal with - especially as Ryan Jackson and Bradley Garmston are going to provide Gillingham with plenty of pace in the wing back role's and we have got Jermaine McGlashan as well.

Over eighty of Ben Williamson's appearances for Port Vale were from the substitutes bench so Port Vale clearly saw Ben Williamson as an impact player who can come on and make an impact, If Justin Edinburgh is going to stick with The 3.4.1.2 formation, then I guess we're going to need four strikers competing for two positions on the pitch.
