Bummer

Postby gillsfan1066 » Sat Aug 15, 2015 10:13 pm

Thought it's important everyone should know in case you missed the announcement on the Gills Board, tomorrows Gillingham v Ipswich Ladies game has been postponed, something about the rush for season tickets and one day match tickets set fire to a computer terminal, which blew the main fuse box and the ensuing fire burnt a great big darn hole in the middle of the pitch ,which is where a couple of the players stand to file their nails during the game ,so FIFA has stepped in and said we can't have players falling into a darn great hole like that , we can't have them getting injured while their getting a manicure ,and cancelled the game .

Probably not but 1066 has a genuine role in life, which is to make the rest of us feel reassuringly normal. Apart from being Gills' fans of course.

Both my little Aussie pal, both married and have married daughters as well.
We have cats to but they don't play soccer, but I am thinking of putting in some road work for the one that can jump from the floor to the top of the fridge in one leap ,Olympigs just around the corner and a trip to Brazil to watch her perform in the high jump would be fun.

Yes my daughters were involved in all sports at school, netball volleyball, athletics, swimming, tennis they were pretty good and my wife and I encouraged them in everything they did, and hopefully we instilled into them some sort of good work ethic, bit of loyalty explaining if they started something especially a team sport they had to follow it through at least till the end of that school year because team mates were relying on them to do there best and be part of a team effort.
There was never any screaming or shouting at refs etc, never any excuses if they didn't win, just a simple did you do the best you could , then thats it , the other player or team were better than you on the day, end of conversation ?
Fortunately we didn't have to go through the crap that is sweeping the schools today in the U S, THE PARTICIPATION TROPHY, where the kid that came 8th in the 100 meters receives a trophy, lol, lol, sorry kid you came 8th, you sucked, you didn't train properly or you didn't do your best, or you were just plain useless at the event, take your pick , part of growing up is coming 8th and feeling like crap you deserved to feel like crap so learn to live with it, your life is not going to be all roses and first place trophy but here is a trophy for being crap at something that will con you into thinking you did something special.
Did I encourage my daughters into playing soccer, rugby, weight lifting, no they didn't want to do it so what was the point ?
You guys crack me up, I am sure most of you probably 99.99999% have never been to a womans soccer match in your life, ( unless your kids were playing,) probably will never go to a womens soccer match in your life, and God lets be honest the games are AWFUL, better to watch Kent Cup football and I bet very few on here have seen that either but if you think it's going to be the next great money maker in the world of sport then go invest in a team because it's the "proper thing to do" everyone is on the band wagon, women should have the same chances as men, well go on then ladys fool yourselves into thinking that people really care about you playing soccer or cricket or rugby, (although I must admit the Lingerie American Football League was a bit of fun to watch after a few beers once in a while, bit like topless darts ).
Only woman worth watching participating in a "mens sport" is Ronda Rousey, now that woman would give the lovely Ms Fanny Mulligan a run for her money, lol.

Nobody is saying that women's football is great, just gently questioning your credentials as a paid-up member of the human race I think ?

Paid up member of the human race, good God no thanks ,not after seeing what the paid up members have done to the world in the last twenty five years since I last paid a subscription.
But help is on the horizon,(we hope) in the form of THE DONALD, MR. SIR DONALD TRUMP who actually says what the majority think, ride on Sir Donald and least we shoud get a laugh out of the next election that is only like 4,279 months away ,but is already occupying 50% of TV time, (God help us).

For the first half of your letter I thought, he's not bad, very sensible, he must have been just having a laugh before. The second half, I thought , no he's not, he almost sucked me in. Just to confirm it, he's on board with Donald Trump. I think that just about puts the nail in your coffin. Next you'll be signing up with the Evangelical right and prancing up and down shouting Hallelujah.

Yes-sirree-bob. With the Glock in the glove compartment, the five iron in the back seat and the flag of the confederacy sticker front and centre on the fender. Yes, Donald Trump says what a lot of people 'think', such as that process is, because America has a large population and consequently a large number of morons.
